DCS deliver a range of Foundation Learning qualifications including;
- City and Guilds 6218 Award in Basic Construction Skills
- City and Guilds 6218 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills
- City and Guilds 6218 Diploma in Basic Construction Skills
- NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Crafts
- NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Crafts
- British safety Council level 1 award in Health and Safety at Work
If you are between 16-19 years old and want to gain a qualification in construction skills then you could train at DCS. You will have tasters in a variety of trades and can choose how you want to progress your training. You could achieve City and Guilds qualifications while deciding which trade you want to progress into. you will have the opportunity to try;
- Plastering
- Painting and Decorating
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Brickwork
- Tiling
You will also have the chance to become involved in one of DCS' external projects, where you will gain valuable on site experience which will enhance your training.
You could progress into an apprenticeship in your chosen trade and we will guide and support you with your choices and how to progress within the construction industry.
if you start our training programme and then decide that construction work is not for you then we will help you to find something else instead. Because we work with a wide network of training providers, employers and colleges we can give you all the available options and support you with advice that is right for you.

Working at Heights Principles and Practice Certificate
Designed for all those who are Working at Heights, Inspecting and Managing safe systems. Incorporating the new Working at Heights Regulations 2005.
Duration: Two day programme
Assessment: Practical and Assignment
Prerequisite: None
Cost: £120.00 + VAT
Abrasive Wheels Principles and Practice Certificate
Designed for all those who are Abrasive Wheel Operators, inspect and are Appointed Person(s).
Duration: One day programme
Assessment: Practical
Prerequisite: None
Progression: Abrasive Wheels Instructor
Cost: £90.00 + VAT
Confined Spaces Principles Certificate
Designed for all those who work in or around confined spaces.
Duration: One day programme
Assessment: Multiple Choice Exam
Prerequisite: None

Principles and Practice of 1st & 2nd Fix Joinery
Designed for all those who are first entering the Industry, Tradesmen Wishing to be Multi-Skilled within their trade. This course will give the
candidate a thorough introduction into Joinery skills needed On-Site.
Duration: 13 Week Evening Classes
Assessment: Practical and Examination
Prerequisite: None
Progression: NVQ Level 2 in Wood Occupations
Cost: £450.00 + VAT
Principles and Practice of Solid Internal Plastering
Designed for all those who are first entering the Industry, Tradesmen Wishing to be Multi-Skilled within their trade. This course will give the candidate a thorough introduction into Plastering skills needed On-Site.
Duration: 15 Week Evening Classes
Assessment: Practical and Examination
Prerequisite: None
Progression: NVQ Level 2 in Internal Solid Plastering
Cost: £450.00 + VAT
What happens next?
Once payment has been received you will receive confirmation of your secured place, by letter with any additional information that you will need before you begin the course.
If you receive no further correspondence after this it means that the course is going ahead on the date agreed and that you should attend DCS for the start time and date already specified.
Should the start date change for any reason you will be notified. Should your payment arrive after all places have been filled you will be automatically secured a place on the next course start date.
Payment details
Payment must be received in full to secure your place. Each of the courses have seen an extremely high demand and we highly recommend if you are interested in completing a course with us that you act promptly.
We can accept cash and cheque payments in-centre or you can send us a cheque by post. DO NOT send cash in the post. Please make all cheques payable to: DCS Ltd. Please also include your name and address with payment so that we can acknowledge it.
