DCS Training is helping Linskill Community Community Centre to give their building a facelift. Linskill is a well used centre offering a wide range of courses, classes, support and services across the borough. DCS recognises the valuable role the centre has in the community, which is evident by the number of people using the service for everything from Art for all to Zumba fitness classes. DCS are currently putting the finishing touches to the Large Hall which has benefitted from a few coats of paint to freshen the place use and make it a welcoming environment for those using it. Our next project is to paint the exterior of the building to make that look as inviting as the inside.

As a training provider we have been able to give some of our clients the opportunity to put their skills to use and become involved with this project while having the supervision of our own training staff. The experience has given our clients the chance to show their committment and employability skills while developing their confidence and communication skills.

DCS Training – CIC have recently been involved with delivering construction training to the service users of Fairbridge who then took those skills back into the community to the likes of ‘Help the Aged’ and other charities and local community groups.

They were able to provide maintenance and building work that would have otherwise cost those organisations a lot of money, which these types of organisations can do without.

This experience also gave the 6 young people that took part the opportunity to raise their skill levels. And as well as giving something back to their communities, it helped to raise their individual self-belief and self esteem.
